Bathbombs and dressing gowns

Well that'll teach me to write a post about my favourite food ... I've been poorly! Tummy, achey, virusy, fluey bug thing. I woke up on Saturday completely wiped out, no energy just feeling cold and wobbly. Spent the day shuffling around between the sofa (the photo above is what I saw for most of the weekend) and the computer reading some of your blogs.
Nothing made me feel any warmer and decided that a nice warm, relaxing bath and an early night would do it. I threw in a bath bomb that one of my daughters had given me and found myself, somewhat disconcertingly, in a floating wildflower meadow, complete with butterflies! What do they put in them? Flora and fauna apart, the oil in the bathbomb made everything stick to me and I looked like I needed a shower by the time I got out. Pyjamas and dressing gown on, went in to clean the bath and found that petals, butterflies, unidentifiable glittery things were completely glued to the sides and spent half an hour scouring it clean. Not exactly what I'd had in mind.
Sunday morning, remembering that it was Father's Day and that the eldest was at a sleepover (why do they call them sleepovers, no one sleeps) and the youngest chomping at the bit since the crack of dawn to give Daddy a Father's Day card and me a get well card, we made M breakfast in bed. A cursory glance in the bathroom revealed that all was not over with the bath bomb! Petals covered the floorboards and bathmat too - another job for later...

Feeling slightly better by lunch time although not well enough to join everyone for a walk, I decided to put my feet up for a while on the sofa. We have two sofas and an armchair in our living room and you would think with four people and two cats everyone would be able to have a space to sit comfortably. Well no - cats take up one chair, M and newspapers a sofa, and my girls (who I think are being sponosored to have the longest legs in Britain) squabble over the other. I always just sneak in quietly and grab a corner before the film starts. Because of this I made this footstool - thinking that it would free up some more space on the sofa, well our cats have other ideas!

Back together in the evening I joined in a game of monopoly which was fun. We always have such different game plans, my oldest daughter just wants to have as much money as possible, the youngest wants to buy anything and everything, I buy things in my favourite colours and M, well M doesn't really seem to have a plan - throws the dice and sees what happens.

Another early night, (shower not bath) and feeling on the mend this morning.

Sorry you are not feeling well hope you are on the mend soon. Love the footstool.

Bath bombs - As someone who makes these as a living I have to say the reason petals are in them is simple they sell better. BUT I also hate things floating in my bath LOL. I would also opt for the bath products without petals or glitter or anything other then nice ingredients and nice smelling. Sorry you had such a crap bath time can I send you one of our bath muffins in order to defend the honour of the toiletry manufacture? Or perhaps a nice simple pineapple smelling bath bomb OR we do bath bombs with petals and oils and oats etc but all wrapped up in muslin so you get the benefit without the floaties in the bath. glad to hear you are feeling better! love that footstool! i had the same thing happen to me with a bath bomb! a bomb is right. i was picking glitter and petals out of the rug and my hair (dunno how that happened) for at least a week. that oil really does make it stick!

I hope you feel better, Kim! I've tried those bathbombs before and had precisely the same experience as you! My little ones now use bath crayons which they LOVE to wipe down (and it actually cleans my tub in the process)! =)

Your cats are too precious, and who wouldn't want to snuggle on that beautiful rag footstool you made - it is LOVELY!

Hope you are feeling better, I always feel a bit cheated if I'm ill at the weekend. One of my least favorite jobs is cleaning the bath....along with ironing, dusting, hoovering, cleaning the cooker....ah yes housework generally!
Love the footstool!

Love the footstool. Your anecdote about the bathbomb made me chuckle. Isn't it typical - something meant to be luxurious and destressing end up actually making work! Hope you are feeling better by now.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. hope you have managed to wash of the glitter and the petals! I think the view you had whilst ill is delightful.... i'd be ill for that alone. (my room is far from restful). Love the butterfly picture and the pretty bird.

Hope you're feeling better, bad luck to be ill at the weekend!

Our old bath is so long that if I add a bath bomb I'm in danger of slipping under, never to be seen again!

By the way i'm coveting that gorgeous footstool!

I love your footstool Kim! As I was reading about your bath mats, I was wondering, do you have bath mats that you made, that might look like the top of the footstool maybe? The kitties look very pretty on their perches -- they're probably thinking what a thoughtful mother they have! ;-)

Sorry to hear that you haven;t been feeling well. But you have the beautiful footstool to cheer you up!
Better choose a nice natural bathbomb next time.
Since I have been making my own soaps, I have noticed a huge difference in quality, and I will only use natural ingredients now.

Get well soon x

I do hope that you are now feeling better Kim. I laughed when I saw your cats - they do look comfy!

I cannot believe that people actually spend good money on some of those bath bombs. I know of someone who bought two for her grandchildren at that (overpowering) high street shop and one of them had a bad skin reaction within seconds - scary stuff.

I tried making them with petals, but hated the stuff floating in the bath and the cleaning up was a nightmare - hardly the way to end a relaxing bath!

Your foot stool is lovely.

Get well soon.

I used to buy dried seaweed from neals yard to put in my bath. It expands in the bath and it's like being in the sea. You then have to put a seive over the plug hole to let the water out, so the seaweed doesn't block up the pipes ! Then you have to scoop it all out.

That footstool is beautiful! I think I'd be tempted to steal it back from the cats. Glad you're feeling better again. Your recent posts have been delightful to read ... it's good to catch up with you again, Kim! ♥
