Mad March Hares

THANK YOU! Look at all those comments on my birthday post, it's been lovely reading them all, hearing from old and new friends. If you still haven't left a comment but would like to win the giveaway please leave a comment on the post below and a name will be chosen on Sunday (and that includes you Jackie!).

I can't tell you how disconcerting I've found seeing my face, albeit chubby baby face, staring at me on the computer screen everytime I've come over here. I'm not enjoying the experience at all so for my own sake, here's a quick change of photos. I really, really don't like having my photo taken as some of you may know and after a morning in town today I've just discovered that I really, really don't like clothes shopping either!!!

Anyway, moving on, these past few weeks have been jam packed with things going on. It's felt like the run up to Christmas but without the pressies at the end! The calender has been full of school actiivities, after school activities and each activity has involved major planning, a huge amount of time and at times huge emotional input (I'm talking teenagers, parents evenings, GCSEs). Oh that makes it sound as if my daughter's giving me reasons to be concerned and she isn't, quite the contrary. Sometimes it just feels that too much pressure is being put on our children unnecessarily and as a parent it's hard feeling so powerless - but that's another story. And thank heavens for white sheets! We've had one white sheet stashed in the dressing up box for three years now and it's done the rounds as a toga, greek robe and this week's Egyptian costume - it's the little black dress of the dressing up box.

Big Sister went on a day trip to Ypres on Saturday to visit the trenches and battlefields. This meant a very early start for everyone, 4,30am rise and shine and I hadn't really fallen asleep the night before and collecting again at midnight. We did spend most of Saturday feeling like the walking dead. She had a wonderful time, if wonderful is the right word for it. She came back incredibly moved by the experience and eager to learn more. In fact we've all been thinking so much about WW1 recently, it's made me re-read some of old fav books of mine, but I will blog about that other time.

I felt that I needed to make some "me time" last week and decided to do a little sewing. Well my little sewing diversion turned into a little obsession. After making a couple of bunnies for my girls I put a few in my etsy shop.

Some have little pouches to store small Easter eggs and some complete with a vintage Easter postcard. All have a little vintage bunny image gift tag.

It's been good to have a little go at something new for a change but now I must stop as our house is looking a bit too much like Watership Down.

Well it is springtime and you know what they say about rabbits!

The bunnies look so pretty all in a row. Yes if you hadn't stopped you would of been over run with them. lol
1 bunny, 2 bunny, 3 bunny and more!
I'm so glad I'm not the only woman on here that hates clothes shopping. It drives me mad especially if I can't find what I'm looking for. Which is the case at the moment. I'm after a black off the shoulder top, like the ones worn in Ashes to ashes the show on BBC one. Please let me know if you see any x
Hugs.

I just love those flopsy bunnies of yours ... They look wonderful as a family! They might multiply in the night if you are not careful.. but maybe that is a good thing!

Sympathies on the G.C.S.E front..
as you know it is a tough time for our children and their poor parents!

With love
Mxxx

They all look so pretty lined up!
They would make a lovely pram toy...one of those ones you used to see hanging across the hood on the Silver Cross prams.
All the colours are so springish..
I saw a Hare on TV last night - they are so big!

Those rabbits look gorgeous lined up, the colours are fab.
I agree on the preesure on children issue, why can't they be allowed to be children a little bit longer?

Hi Kim! Be on the lookout for some mail...

I love your little bunnies! They are very cheerful and springy. How cute to sit them all out in a row like that too!

I agree with you about those two pet hates. I also don't like to get my photo taken and avoid it like the plague. I also hate to shop for clothes. :)

Hugs ~

Hi Kim,
I was just sat here reading your lovely hare inspired post and then I saw I had an email - it was a comment from you on my blog! What a coincidence!
I hope things settle down with family life soon - I know how you feel, things can just be too hectic sometimes....
and who needs clothes shopping to get in the way too?
I've been going around in circles lately (my next post!) and getting no where fast and my two eldest girls are coming home from Uni at the weekend and.....

I'm glad you managed some 'me' time - the Easter goodies are adorable.
Take care,
Niki x

Hi Kim,
the bunnies look lovely, very springlike. We went to Ypres a few years ago and it was very moving, especially when you read the ages of all those young boys.I'd recommend Birdsong by Sebastian Foulkes, although in parts,I could hardly read through the tears!

I love your bunnies and the colours. I'm a big fan of Easter and bunnies- especially the ones with floppy ears. I'm with you on the clothes shopping too, maybe I'd rather stay home and write or create. Hope you had a wonderful birthday and thanks for sharing your bunny love.
Hugs,
Dy

Hi Kim, I love the bunnies, so much so, I hopped over to Etsy and bought the pretty red and blue chintzy one, another Easter gift to myself! x

I really really don't like having my photo taken either!
I agree that it feels like there is too much pressure put on our kids. I felt that a lot when my children were in primary school and had to keep taking tests all the time! My son breezed through his GCSES but I have a feeling my daughter will find it incredibly stressful when she has to take hers.
The bunnies are gorgeous!

anI too love your bunnies!! Did you choose the colors carefully?Or just what came at hand?
I don't like clothes shopping either . My step son used to say he had never shopped with anyone like me before. I went straight to the shops had a direct garment in mind if they didn't have it woosh I'm out of there. He has never gone thrifting with me :)

I'm so glad that Big Sister enjoyed and appreciated her trip to Ypres, I think actually seeing those cemeteries is the only way to really bring home the horrors of WW1.
Love those rabbits, they are so pretty, you are really talented at doing crafts.

Pincushions! Oh dear - that sounds cruel!

Much too nice for pincushions, and especially nice in large numbers, a - flock? herd? of bunnies.
