Reflecting

It's been a funny week. The weather has been wonderful but I've been feeling glum. Not sure why, it may have been a virus, it may have something to do with the fact that I hadn't had a decent night's sleep for over a week, whatever it was I couldn't shake off an overwhelming tiredness that was making me feel low. As much the sun was shining and the skies were blue I couldn't settle on anything and felt as if I was on the brink of tears most days. Thankfully I slept well last night and am feeling better this morning, apologies to anybody who has left a comment and I haven't responded. I will catch up. The very lovely michele provided me with the perfect pick-me-up. She had tagged me the week before to choose five posts from my blog to share with you again. Although I didn't have the energy to post this earlier, the actual reading through the blog from start to finish has really cheered me up. If anybody reading this is thinking about starting to blog, I can only say that this blog has proved to me the best record of events, thoughts and memories that I could have wished for. Looking back has been like reliving the past year, little things that I probably would have forgotten have brought smiles to my face and made my family laugh out loud. So thanks Michele, I'm feeling much better.

The rules of the tag are as follows:
Archive Meme Instructions: Go back through your archives and post the links to your five favorite blog posts that you’ve written. … but there is a catch: Link 1 must be about family. Link 2 must be about friends. Link 3 must be about yourself, who you are… what you’re all about. Link 4 must be about something you love. Link 5 can be anything you choose. I think this is a great way to circulate some of the great older posts everyone had written, return to a few great places in our memories and also learn a little something about ourselves and each other that we may not know. Post your five links and then tag five other people. At least TWO of the people you tag must be *newer acquaintances so that you get to know each other better….and don’t forget to read the archive posts and leave comments!

(if you click on the words in purple, the correct post should come up)
Link 1
My family - I'm cheating here, 2 posts.

One for each daughter - big sister

and
little-sister
M chose these two posts and they sum up our girls.

Link 2

My friends - well I've chose my blogging friends for this one. Writing a blog can be wonderful and a large part of it is down to the kindness, humour and generosity of all of you who read it and take time to comment.

Link 3

About me
- this is a tricky one.
I don't like writing about me and am happier talking about other things. This post has me revealing a bit more and sharing one of my favourite weekends in the year.

Link 4

Something I love - my garden has to be one of my favourite places and gardening one of my favourite things. Wherever I've lived, no matter how small the garden, I've loved planting and digging and picking. This post describes perhaps a bit of my rather casual approach to my gardening!

Link 5

My own choice - this day had to be one of my favourites last year. Pure fun and family from start to finish, you can't ask for anything more.
I have deliberately chosen posts from the first six months of blogging, so that newer readers can have the chance to read some of the earlier posts. Hope you've enjoyed them, it was great having an excuse to go back and read them.
And now I must tag some people.
The first three are bloggers who commented on my earliest posts and who have shared their year with me too:
Gill
Niki
Louise
and the remaining two to be tagged, are:
Anna
Val
Please don't feel obliged to do the tag, it is fun though. Hope you haven't minded being dragged through the archives with me!

Hi Kim. This was so lovely to read back over some of your older posts. I read back on some of my older ones lately and I totally agree with you that writing a blog is such a lovely way of keeping track of things you have done. Actually, writing a blog has changed my life in so many ways. Sorry you've been feeling low this week. Probably one of those winter bugs that you can't quite put your finger on but you know it's there. Hope you start to feel a lot better today. The sun is shining here so I hope it is down there on the south coast for you. Take care. x

I think it is just that time of year Kim. I think it is the anticipation of spring but still not being there yet. The waiting for your garden to wake up so you can come out and play. The longing for a summer's eve to sit outdoors. Your mood is pretty normal at this time of year and things will get better!

I remember all of these posts and have the greatest pleasure to stop by and visit with you. I think you do talk about yourself without realizing it. I think when you talk about M, your daughters, your funny cats, your home, your crafts, your garden.....you talk about your own soul. Those things are all a part of us so in turn, you do reveal yourself in sharing what is important to you.

Have a wonderful Sunday dear Kim!

Hugs ~
Heidi

Hi Kim,
Thanks for taking the time to write this - its been fun to read all those posts again (although I can't seem to access 'little sister'.) I don't remember the post about your wonderful day out on the river - that was a special day indeed.
Thank you for tagging me! I have just written mine, but realise that I don't write about much other than flea markets and sewing, hehe!
Hope you feel better now.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
Niki x

How fun to go through some of your older posts! I particularly remember the last one you linked to... I live vicariously through you British ladies whenever you post about your family outings and holidays!

Thank you for tagging me! I will try to get this meme done... my children have this week off from school for Winter Break, plus all five of us (hubby not included) have been fighting off some kind of bug. Oh I just want spring and flowers to start popping! heehee Have a lovely evening, Kim!

Hi Kim, thanks for visiting and for tagging me, it's a lovely idea and reminds people of some of your earlier posts.I remember all of yours, it seems like only yesterday that I discovered your blog. I'll definitely give it a go later this week. Sorry to hear you've been feeling down, that tearful feeling is awful 'cos you only need someone to be nice and it sets you off! It will pass...a bit of activity or something creative usually makes me feel better. Glass of wine goes down quite well too :)

Lovely post Kim, it's nice going back over the old posts isn't it?
Sorry you've not been feeling great, we seem to be suffering from the unexplained tired bug here, don't know why, the weather is lovely. Yesterday instead of doing all the jobs around the house we just went out instead and it was a real tonic. Fresh air works wonders.
Glad you've had a good nights sleep, great start to a new week.

Yipee! I've found another lovely blog. Just made myself a cuppa and intend to have a good root around your archives. Hope you're feeling better soon. I started my blog recently as a bit of an antidote to the winter blues and I have to say, it's been an absolute tonic. Beats those fandangle light boxes any day! Glad to have found you.

I think a few people are feeling a bit glum at the minute. I know I have been dreaming most nights and wake up feeling like I haven't slept at all and that makes me crabby.
Glad you are feeling better.

I can actually remember reading the post about your favorite day. It's about the time I started reading your blog. What a fun way for we newbie's to get better acquainted with you. I loved your description of the event in May, and all about your darling girls. Being the youngest I could indentify with Younger sister :) I found a new gardening book, It sounds wonderful. Also I feel like I was at least linked to one of your posts because I remembered it, and that made me smile. The names of your posts are terrific. Thanks for taking the time to respond to the tag. I think we may have all benifited by you doing so :)
