Show & Tell
Catherine over at the lovely Mollycupcakes blog has generously nominated me for The Amazing Blogger award, thanks Catherine! Catherine makes gorgeous little painted wooden items in mouthwateringly lovely colours - so go and take a peek at her blog too. I have also been tagged by both Catherine and Mere (a new visitor and blogger, so perhaps you could go over and say hello to her) to reveal more random facts about myself. As you know I should win the award for "most hopeless maker of lists" and so I've decided to show you some photos of bits and bobs from around the house that are making me smile at the moment and, which, who knows, may reveal a little bit more about me too!
We bought this print before Christmas. I love the dusky lavender ducks and have yet to find their ceramic equivalent. Those of you who might have read about my relationships with birds might question the subject matter (those of you who haven't read this post, might want to just to have the chance to have a good laugh at me if nothing else). But there's is something so homely about this image that I love it. I seem to be collecting quite a few little birdy items so perhaps I'm working through the old bird phobia! Will try to photograph them for another post when the light is a bit better.
I bought this mug for M for his birthday. M is a graphic designer and this is perfect for him. It also happens to be one of his favourite shades of blue and I always think of him when I see this colour. It is perhaps a surprising choice for my list, but again it is its simplicity that appeals to me, not that I'm turning my back on the florals!
At the back of the kitchen cupboard sits this cup and saucer. Given to me when I was a very little girl by a Norwegian family friend it has miraculously survived countless moves and time in a shared student house. Not only does it remind me of my mum's kitchen but also, for some reason, hot Ribena.
In sharp contrast to the simplicity of the two crockery items, I have fallen in love with these two old cards of French fasteners.
I am a sucker for packaging and looking at my growing collection of french haberdashery always makes me smile.
Look at those flowers on the packaging, blue and white again, but look at those little forget-me-nots.
More buttons to add to my collection. The little ones are particularly pretty, they are backed with foil which makes them shimmer and appeals to the magpie in me.
I got this bottle from Niki the other week to add to my bathroom collection
(again, sorry I think this photo has been shown before). I love the cloudiness of the old glass and above all, its label.
I'm having to indulge my yearning for a puppy by buying more and more canine paraphenalia. I found this little vintage letter rack in a charity shop the other week. I love it and keep it by the computer hoping that one day the dogs' pleading little eyes might melt the hearts of all who use this computer to change their minds!
A bit of a long hotchpotch of a post. Don't know what all these things say about me but it was fun walking around the house and taking photos of them. If you fancy doing the same then consider yourself tagged. Hope you have a good few days.
