A glass half full kind of morning

It's a grey, wet day here today and I felt the need for pretty.
I felt the need for some calm amongst the chaos
Some peace amongst the piles of paper,
and the angst filled evenings fuelled by the oncoming weeks of exams.

The brighter quilts have been replaced today by softer hues

My sewing has been discarded whilst I play with some pretty threads.

My mug of tea sits to one side whilst I tinker with some pretty china.

I decide not to notice the sticky tape mark on the top of this old tin

To admire some beautiful old handwriting and remember how glad I am not to be back at school...

In short, I take some time to smell the roses.

Hi Kim,
lovely to hear from you.So pleased you're having a 'half full' morning.Exam times are certainly anxious times,my sons in his firt year of gcse's and has had tons of course work to do and 2 exams.
My daughter is just finishing her first year of art at Brighton uni. She's stressed about organising the exhibition and finishing her own pieces of art to enter!Don't we worry for them!

My 10 year old has his SATS next week. What a young age to be judged on your academic ability. I am trying to make things calm before the storm. I am stocking up on his favourite things to eat and read and play with. I am trying to keep the glass half full at the moment too. With our two halves we have a full one! I wish you a restful weekend with plenty of time to stop and smell the roses.x

Boy I needed to read this. I too have had a half full morning.

So out into the garden I went for some hard, physical labor.

Have a wonderful afternoon.

Oh that was just lovely. A bit of calm before the weekend. We have had sun here today but the rain over the last week has been dire. Happy weekend x

Hi, it is lovely to see that the authors of so many of the blogs I follow are having a quiet, reflective or loving week. Long may it continue to be a gentle, pleasing time.

What beautiful photos!
My daughters sats start tomorrow and even though she's only 10 she reminds of my son when he done his GCSEs, sat down with all her books in front of her, revising and stressing. It's only the start for her, i'm so glad i'm not at school anymore!
Take care

Imagine having peonies out already! That's the deep south, I suppose. Here they're just tight buds. Glad your glass is half full at the moment. Mine's a bit empty, but hey ho. May is certainly a pretty month.

Pretties are the best way to chase the blues away...and you certainly have here, Kim...beautiful accents of all sort. And must say I love the string over pearls draped over that floral print--fantastic! Hope the rain and gray give way to sunshine soon there. :o) ((HUGS))

Really lovely photos...very calm, which I'm not at the moment...I'm having some of that slow, wading through mud time, where the mud's come in over the top of my boots...and to be honest, would appreciate being back at school and not a grown-up at all!
Anyway, festival with the paintings is very slow for me this year, but am enjoying the 'prozak' quality that dancing to Orkestra del Sol in the Spiegeltent last night incurred...thanks for your encoraging comments, and also thanks for the lovely picures on your post.

Smelling the roses should be a daily activity! I seem to have my appreciation heightened at the moment due to my health...more about that later on my own blog when I get about to posting. It is so important to always look outside of what is happening and see the positive and pretty. It is always there when we take our sunglasses off. Hope you are well and sorry I am not visiting as regularly but I think of you often.

Hugs ~
