Second hand rose

Say hello to my new tablecloth. Isn't it lovely? I found it at the bottom of a basket of old linens in a junk shop for the princely sum of £1. I don't think I've ever been so eager to wash and iron anything before!

Smelling oh so sweet and fresh from its garden airing and looking oh so sweet and fresh on my kitchen table, a last glimpse of summery days.

Not sure if it's the colour combination, that petal pink and aqua blue made me rush to my sewing cupboard and find some materials for ragging straightaway. It could be the beautiful blowsy roses set against a trellis of charcoal grey.

It could be the beautiful feel of the old slubby linen. It doesn't really matter because for a few minutes this morning, my kitchen was experiencing a summer it hasn't seen for a long time.

Hope you all have a great weekend with the chance of seeing some sunshine. Me? I'm off to do something awfully exciting with this giant tub of flying saucers, joss sticks, wellies and a bunch of teenagers ... see you on the other side!

I love the sound of 'old slubby linen'! I remember eating flying saucers on the run up to Christmas. My Auntie turned a large coffee jar into a snowman then filled it with flying saucers to be eaten before the build up to the big day!

Wow, beautiful tablecloth, lucky you, just shows a spot of rummaging is always worthwhile.
My son is having a space themed birthday party next week and you've reminded me that I need to find some of those flying saucers. Oh dear, a trip to Hope & Greenwood, what a chore!

What a find, you really do get your hands on some treasures. It makes a change to see something lovely and feminine but not pink.
