Sunday Stroll
For those of you who were unable to get out today or had the benefit of the beautiful weather why don't you come along with us for a stroll? It's just the three of us, Big Sister has gone off with a friend. Up to our favourite spot on The Downs. Little Sister is leading the way, wrap up warm though it's a bit chilly up here.
Clambering on we go as Little Sister rushes ahead shouting "I'm Free", in fact we are all free today, free of the confines of being indoors and able to enjoy such beautiful countryside.
The Downs are slowly waking from their wintry sleep and things are still a bit slippery underfoot so be careful. No signs of flowers up here yet although plenty of new shoots and buds appearing on trees and shrubs. In amongst a clump of trees we find this moss covered branch. Isn't it a beautiful green?
Along this country lane down into the village where we find clumps of snowdrops, primroses (yes primroses) in bloom and so many daffodils just waiting to burst. At the bottom of the Downs across a track a Hare jumps out in front of us and hurtles into the hedgerows.
Back up now to the top, it's a long steep climb and for people with little legs it seems to get longer and longer.
Just when you think you're getting closer to Daddy Longlegs...
he steps up a gear and moves further away, leaving us stragglers woefully behind.
Keep going we're almost there, it's worth it, the view from the top is really beautiful. Home and a cup of tea are only five minutes away!

Hi Kim, great photos- hasn't it been a beautiful day? We walked around Broadway today and enjoyed the sunshine. Let's hope it's here to stay!anna x
What beautiful scenery. And isn't it great when in winter we have such lovely days for walking? We didn't have time for a walk today as Les was busy taking all the bits off has old car as it's going to the scrap yard tomorrow...but I did manage a short time in the garden.

Happy Sunday Kim! This sounds like a fun outing and you have pretty good weather by the looks of it. We are having on and off rain again. Actually the rain was very on all night long while up at Cranberry Cottage. We are working on some overwhelming pruning there.
So if you walk on the Downs, you live in Devon? I visit places in England often but have yet to go to Devon, Cornwall or Kent. What a view you have there! I hope you can reach home in 5 minutes is not meaning rolling like stones down that hillside. LOL!
Isn't it fun to discover flowers starting to bloom? Our snowdrops at Cranberry Cottage are also blooming.
Hugs ~
Heidi
What can I say, I,ve finally read all your Blog from the very beginning and I love it. I am so envious of your garden, I would give anything to have a garden like that. There are so many similar things that I like too, Red Boots, the Laura Ashley jug, old books- I have a few of the ones you have mentioned and I try to take plant pictures some bits were quite spooky. Where in Normandy did you holiday? love Lisa x
Fantastic walk, Kim. We're lucky if we see a hill here which is very hard having grown up in a fairly hilly place. It is muddy right now though, isn't it?
Lovely sun here too - we (well, my husband actually) even pruned the wisteria - just in time.
what a lovely walk!
and I love the daddy long legs comment!!

Hi Kim........it's been horrid up here, windy grey skys. So how nice of you to take us on a downs walk...it has fair cheered me up. Gosh I miss those hills.
You are right about the skips too, I also remember when I was always pulling out very nice vintage furniture, fabric allsorts....out of them sigh...
Your pages look all bright and spring like..very pretty, lovely colours.
Have a happy and creative week.

Oh goodenss what a breath of fresh air! Fabulous, I'm out of breath, that is a steep hill (why do men walk so bloomin fast?!)
Just what I needed. Does a virtual walk still burn off a kit-kat? Hope so!
Thanks for sharing such lovely pictures

Hello Kim
What a beautiful piece of the British countryside... it is what we do best in this country..
Can't beat the rolling hills and woodlands.. I am never happier than when tromping up and down dale.
It is lovely to see you enjoying your weekend en famille!..
Love to you
Michelex
P.s I promise not to be grumpy this week!
Looks like a lovely walk. I love those views you get from the top of the downs looking inland. Wasn't the sunshine gorgeous this weekend. Spring is definitely not far away!
Hi Kim
Sorry about our not meeting up, what a beautiful day indeed. I managed to get out of the house and take the boys to Blakers but would love to have been well enough to go to our favourite spot! Getting better now! Do you venture any further than the end of the lane? I have driven on the road there but would love to venture further. Hope you have a good week and a fine smile on Friday!

Thank you for taking us along on this lovely walk--it is beautiful where you are! We had a great weekend walk to. Oddly we are entirely without snow here in southern Norway. But I'm very ok with no snow, and it gave us an unencumber walk down to the harbor. Happy week to you all ((HUGS))
What glorious views! Isn't it lovely to just blow away those cobwebs, long may this weather last I say!
