Once upon a time ...

Once upon a time, not that long ago, in Far Far Away land it rained, and it rained and it rained. The lovely princess was expecting the princes and princesses from afar to come and celebrate her birthday in the palace grounds. But this was a tale of Happy Never After and Far Far Away was transformed into Near, Near to Home for the day!

Well rain abandoned play in this household too! The shrekalicious barbecue and outdoor feast were cancelled and an indoor banquet was the order of the day. Thankfully the princess' parents had been blessed with the best guests ever and it all went off without a hitch! Mudpies were eaten and not thrown! Shrek slime was made and enjoyed without turning the whole kitchen into a swamp (2 parts cornflour to 1 part coloured water plus the odd toad or lizard).

Pass the Onion (parcel) because ogres are like onions, they have many layers, was played and prizes were swapped! Pin the Tail on donkey (ouch!) was a huge success.

Gingerbread men were decorated and fallen in love with. Princess Fiona was successfully found in the treasure hunt, the little minx had been hiding in the tent in the rain. A pinata that the princess had made to look like a castle was thumped into submission and the princess' mummy was so pleased to find that the confetti had been strewn everywhere!

And if that wasn't enough 5 lucky princesses spent the night and were up, bless them, at 5.15am to have some more fun ....

... so this is how we are all feeling now!

This sounds like the most fun party! I think you are one special mother. Rain or not, this party will be remembered for a very long time I am sure. I hope you are finding time now to sit and relax with a cup of tea.

Oh Kim! You must be ready to have a nice long nap like the wolf did in Fiona's castle bed when Prince Charming found him! The party sounds like it was successful even though your enchanted forest was contained within four walls! I commend you!!! Little girl sleepovers... we haven't had one for the girls yet, but we have for our boys, and they never do seem to need much sleep, do they?! heehee

What an amazing party they must have had. Shame about the rain. Summer has clearly bypassed us. We haven't entered the realm of sleepovers yet. You should clearly be rewarded with lots of chocolate and some headache tablets !

It sounds like a wonderful time was had by all! Everything looks delightful and I'm sure that in spite of being a wee bit tired (okay, a LOT tired!) it was a day to remember! Blessings to your little princess! ♥

Ah yes, the party and sleepover stage! Lovely in its way, but I don't really miss it now I'm ancient...

I remember Daughter 2 and her friends, too numerous for her bedroom, had one sleepover in the sitting room after which she told us that they opened the patio doors and played in the garden at 5 am. Aargh! Child molesters! Burglars! (Fortunately not.)

Sounds as though the princes and princesses had a lovely time in spite of it raining in Far Far Away land. The princess' mummy must have worked very hard and been very tired at the end of the celebrations. I remember it all well and I'm really, really glad that remembering is all I have to do these days:)
