A good mix ...
Half term's over. Big sister is back at school and little sister returns tomorrow. However long the holiday, there's always a wish for it to have gone on just that big longer. Those couple of days it takes for everyone to relax into the swing of things, to get use to the luxury of no timetable, well in half term before you know it time has sped past and they're back to school. That night before they go back to school, they're not the only ones with that sinking feeling. However much we squabble (squabble perhaps is too gentle a word for what sisters do!), we do enjoy each other's company.
The luxury of lazy days together at home are the best - days when we all feel like making things, cooking, sewing or just playing cards. With the big age difference between the girls it is increasingly hard to find things that ticks the boxes for everyone. We went to see Stardust at the cinema last week - the oldest taking all the thrills in her stride, the youngest clasping my hand, burying her head in my shoulder and peeking out when it was "safe". They both loved it! What I loved, even more than the film, was that sense of sharing an experience with them - with the girls at different schools and the soundtrack to most school days being one of grunts and groans, it was great to find something that they could share with me.
There were days out and yes, big sister did get her shopping fix. Little sister didn't do too badly either. Something tells me that a love for red boots in this family is catching ...

I saw Stardust yesterday and really enjoyed it. I especially loved Robert De Niro's part. Really amused me.
Glad you've enjoyed the holidays with your girls. It always makes me so sad when I hear parents almost cheering that their children are going back to School. It's so nice to hear how much you enjoy spending time with your girls.
So nice to have had some quality time together as a family. How big of an age difference is there with your girls? I hope you have had the wonderful autumn weather we had last week too. Love the new red boots sitting beside yours!

Glad half term was great family time...Love those cheery red wellies and that lunch box at the top--you always show such great finds. Happy week to you all ((HUGS))
Those lovely boots again! Took a little trip to that shop (and many others)last weekend!
We have quite an age spread between the children at our house, too. We have a 9 year difference from the youngest to oldest, and is it ever hard trying to do things to please all four at the same time! Unless we see an animated movie such as Shrek, etc. movies are seldom watched as a family (unless it's a dvd we watch at home, and my oldest kids don't have to worry about being seen in public at a little kids' movie)! heehee
Ha! I was here reading yours when you were at mine!
I will have to see this movie...and watch it with three scared fighting brothers!
You are such a bad influence on those girls - love the boots though!
I loved Stardust! It was such a fun movie.
So glad to hear you enjoyed your half-term break. My boys are just beginning to be able to do things together (at 14mths & 4 years) and we enoyed a fab day at a National Trust woodland activity day, hunting autumn treasures and making woodland crowns. Bliss. Can't wait to take them to see a film together. We've got pumpkin carving as a post tea/back to school treat this evening. Wooo-hooooooo!
More red boots too - hurrah! Not sure I'm going to have shoe sharing experiences with my two though!

More red boots, I think you might have started a trend.
Glad you've had such a good time with the girls. Red boots -- WooHoo!
Love both pairs of red boots:) Haven't seen Stardust but it sounds like one to see when it comes out on DVD. It's great when you find something that everyone likes isn't it?
Glad you had such a lovely time - it sounds great fun. Mine go back tomorrow and I wish we had another week. I never feel like we have done enough, but they have loved being in PJs till lunch and just playing and going out for walks. Roll on Christmas hols!!

I thought the film was lovely, but the book is so much better!
(I read the book first, though, so may be biased.)
