Just Behind The Marmite...Still More Good Things In January

I'm still on my quest to look for the good in January and with the arrival of some very much needed and unexpected sunshine this week, I haven't been disappointed.

What a relief to have some daylight, proper unadulterated daylight, two or three days of clear blue skies, longer days and the hint of birdsong. Am I deceiving myself by thinking that the birds are definitely getting chirpier these days? I'm trying to keep things in perspective here and not assuming that Spring has sprung or anything like that but when the indoor flowers start to bloom and their fragrance fills the rooms, it does make my heart skip a beat or two.
Sunshiney yellows can never fail to make you feel just a tad more optimistic.

If you're going to have the blues, best make them the hyacinth blues variety, mix them up with a few books about the great outdoors, some odds and sods from the sewing basket and yes, you can see, I'm getting excited...

But best of all, this morning, when putting away the breakfast things, behind the jar of marmite, in the corner of the cupboard where no hand ever reaches, I notice something -

- a packet of my favourite biscuits that Mr Roses bought me a while ago, forgotten in the chocolate frenzy of the past few weeks. So I'm sitting here with my morning cuppa, with each sip revealing more of the lovely little blue Swallow painted inside, savouring every mouthful of sweet aniseedy biscuit naughtiness, turning a blind eye to all the housework, washing and sewing that I know is ganging up behind me, and just savouring the moment. Marmite, you either love it or hate it

I was only commenting yesterday the birds are getting chirpy. The only trouble is minus degrees this morning on the school run....hmmm. It is nice to look forward to spring, your photos would cheer anyone up.

Beautiful pictures Ms. Roses. Now, Marmite...is that like vegemite? We don't have either, but I've tasted vegemite and I can't say that I put it in the love it column!

Yes it is SO lovely to see the sun and a blue sky in the morning even if it is BRrrr! Just waiting for the ground to dry up so I can take Bella across the fields again without us both getting totally muddy. :0)

Hate Marmite, but love biscuits! Noreen's been making shortbread, so I'm hoping that when I see her next she's got some left.

You've put some lovely colours together...blue hyacinths...gorgeous!

What a lovely posting apart from the Marmite! I'm afraid I'm a hate it rather than love it. Seen some snowdrops just opened a few days ago so I do believe that Spring will be here very soon - I can't wait - crocuses, daffs and tulips, longer, brighter days and more dawn choruses to get us out of bed. Bring it on, I say.
June.

The birds are getting chirpier around here for sure. Especially the blackbirds who are doing a lot of chasing of each other around our garden. Hope you enjoyed your biscuits. Lovely when you discover some delicious forgotten in the cupboard.

Lovely colours in the photos. January is nearly over and as I remember, last year February was a lovely sunny month.

Marmite ... not so much. But hyacinths - yum!

Big tick for Marmite - yep I love it!

Love those sunny daffodils too - those and a blue Janaury sky make this month just about bearable.

You have such a talent for putting colours together Kim. I love those blues, but especially love those lime greens and yellows together. I may even go on the hunt for items of those very same colours for myself! x
