"tis almost fairy time"

"I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine."
Midsummer's Night Dream

Ssssssh, if you listen very carefully you'll hear the sound of the fairies wings, they're on their way, I'm sure. Whilst our gardens might not be full of canopied bowers and sleeping fairy queens, we will still find them here this weekend at the bottom of our garden.

If you want to know what we'll be up to then take a peep at this and this and if those fairies are giving you the run around then take a look at this and this (the sweetest fairy balm for the heart).

Happy Midsummer

'There lies Titania
sometime of the night,
Steeped in these flowers
of dances and delights'

Eeeeek, is that tonight? I promised myself we'd be omn the ball this year, but I'm in the middle of birthday party over preparing (don't ask). Maybe I can whip something up - we've been planning a fairy garden just outside the back door for a while now.

Your past posts are so magical, I hope Big Sister and Little Sister still find pleasure in these sorts of things. The old photograph was so charming. You've chosen the same quote from A Midsummer Night's Dream as I have - no surprise there really, I think they are some of the most evocative words that Will Shakespeare ever wrote. Happy Solstice:)

Happy Summer Solstice my friend..
I have found evidence of the fairies in our garden... half eaten alpine strawberries, tiny bunches of forget me nots.. and a few tiny empty coke cans strewn around the place..!
I shall listen out for their tiny giggles and whispers tonight...and watch for fairy lights dancing at dusk..

Have a wonderful magical day.

Oh what a wonderful Midsummer you must have had - I desperately wanted to go somewhere special - like the ancient burial mounds near us, but after a long weekend we decided in the end to burn our wishes on the fire - imagine that, a hot balmy summer's day had ended and there were we sat by a fire inside the house tee hee it was good but not as good as yours sounds!!
