Rosy Days

A bunch of flowers for us all to share this first weekend in September (where's the summer gone?). When I was younger I remember the summer holidays stretching on and on and a new school year seemed an eternity away. Does it feel the same for our children I wonder? It certainly feels that the past few weeks have whizzed past and the last few days of the holidays are passing even faster. We're all desperately trying to claw back some time to spend with each other and enjoy the break from routine that next week (next week!!!) will once again impose on us.

My daughters organised (perhaps organised makes it sound more democratic than it really was - they argued, sulked and squabbled until the oldest got her way) the draw for the print and the winner is Shabby in the City. So Phyllis, it's yours for the taking - enjoy the irony! Anna from Thimbleanna commented how great it would be for a fellow blogger on the other side of the globe to be looking up at the same picture in her kitchen, well now it's going to happen!

I hope you all get to enjoy a great weekend, especially those of you across the pond with your long, celebratory Labor Day weekend. Wishing us all good times over the next few days.

Time seems to go by faster each year. I felt the same about the summer going by so quickly.

Your roses in the jug are so pretty and then I started really looking at that jug. It is so unique. Is it from the 60s or 70s and by whom? Next I started gazing at that incredible bowl with the brambles and looking at just how sweet it is! What pretty things you have Kim.

Enjoy your last weekend before the normal school time starts once again. Have a wonderful weekend!

I love the dish in the second photo, what a lovely, delicate piece.
I remember the feeling at the beginning of the summer holidays when the weeks stretched endlessly before me and were full of possibilities. Then I remember them with three children, filled with possibilities at the beginning and the new school term shining like a beacon to a shipwrecked mariner towards the end:) Now 6 weeks seems like about 6 days. I always used to think that older people were silly when they said that time goes quicker as you get older - now I realise it's absolutely true!

What beautiful roses - my favourite colour for roses too! Enjoy your last week at home together before the new term... it really doesn't seem that long ago I was helping a friend finish all her end-of-year reports and stuff!

Your photographs are beautiful. I love the roses. Summer does speed by now - I remember those long August days from childhood. Now that school has started, the early-morning routines are back and I miss the easy times of sleeping in and deciding what to do with the day. My son is right back into it ... happy to be back with his school friends.

Do you remember when time went so slow? Now, it flies by and soon my "baby" will be out of school. It seems just yesterday he was a little boy. It is supposed to be 108° here today so we are hiding inside. Enjoy your weekend.
